Hi, it’s Barb. However you discovered me in my little part of southwestern Ontario, Canada, I’m so glad you’re here. My mixed media art pieces are slice of life vignettes that have a remarkable blend of whimsy, depth and motion. Whether presenting a social commentary, human experience or fantastical scene, I portray figures in a unique way in a wide range of captivating settings. You could describe my style as sophisticated simplicity.

Wood blocks and panels are my canvas and I paint with acrylic and watercolour. I discovered quite by accident that I could cut up miniature clothespins and reconfigure the pieces into human-like figures. I use various types of paper or material to make clothing and typically use string or yarn to make hair and to outline my watercolour cutouts. I often incorporate collage and found objects. This all gives my artwork additional layers of depth.

While I’ve been making art for a couple of decades, this is a relatively new direction for me. The process of discovery and growth in my work are my fuel and when collectors resonate with my work, they’re the proverbial match.
