My mixed media art pieces are slice of life vignettes that have a remarkable blend of whimsy, depth and motion. Whether presenting a social commentary, human experience or fantastical scene, I portray figures in a unique way in a range of captivating settings. My style has been described as sophisticated simplicity.
Wood blocks and panels are my canvas and I paint with acrylic and watercolour. I most often cut up miniature clothespins and reconfigure the pieces into human-like figures. I use various types of paper or material to make clothing and typically use string to make hair and to outline my watercolour cutouts. I often incorporate collage and found objects. All of these elements give my artwork additional layers of depth.
While I’ve been making art for a couple of decades, this is a relatively new direction for me. The process of artistic discovery and growth and having collectors resonate with my work, fuels my soul.
